A heat pump transfers heat from surrounding air into stored water. It is a water-heating system, not the same as a room heat pump. Start with your busiest hot-water period, not a fixed people-per-cylinder rule. Capacity does not guarantee a particular number of people or showers: shower flow and length, baths, overlapping use, incoming water temperature and recovery between uses all matter.

If your existing 180L cylinder generally meets demand and now needs replacement, this may be a straightforward option. If hot water regularly runs out, first assess the fault and usage rather than assuming another 180L will solve it.
Peak use and time to reheat between showers; access, pressure, connections and available electrical supply. This package does not cover relocation, low-to-mains conversion or a different size.
More stored hot water

A larger stored reserve may help with clustered showers or baths when 180L is not enough. More storage does not automatically mean faster recovery; the element, supply and use pattern still matter.
Room for the larger cylinder, a suitable base and service access, pipe routes and electrical requirements. Our advertised external option is the Rheem MPSS 32530015; not every 300L model is outdoor-suitable, and the calculator does not select a brand. A like-for-like replacement in an accessible location has a different scope from moving a cylinder, changing water pressure or switching to gas or heat pump hot water. Capacity, household demand, access for removal, pipework, valves and the condition of existing connections all matter.
Electrical supply changes, gas connections and flue work, drainage, mounting requirements and any necessary approvals can add work. Urgency and parts availability also affect the options and timing. We confirm assessment or call-out charges before arranging the visit.

Capacity alone does not decide suitability. Tell us how many people and bathrooms use hot water, when showers overlap and whether your current system runs out.
